An absolutely unique place! O João do Peixe is one of those restaurants that stays in your memory for a long time. Dinner follows a simple formula – no menu, no choice of dishes – it's up to the chef and owner, João, to decide what's best on the table that day. The price depends on the fish available in port that day (from what we know, it usually ranges between €15 and €25 per person – today it was €25) and is fully justified by what ends up on the plate. Appetizers were served first: tender octopus, succulent shrimp, sardines, and other fish – all fresh from the ocean, prepared without unnecessary additives, with respect for the produce. The main course was a true feast: two types of fish, today it was perfectly prepared stingray (raye) and wild Atlantic bream (not farm-raised). The fish is served practically à volonté – but the portions are so generous that we couldn't even think about a second helping. The greatest treasure of this place, however, is João – the passionate host, who smiles and talks about the fishermen, the port, traditions, and life by the ocean. A conversation with him transforms dinner into a true Portuguese experience, not just a meal. In short: fresh fish, authenticity, hospitality, and an atmosphere that can't be faked. ⭐ One of the most beautiful culinary memories of our trip.

Great find! The fish buffet was wonderful, the fish was super fresh. I've never had such fresh sardines before, and the sides were delicious. Get the pistachio semifreddo; it was one of the best things I've ever tried! To top it off, the service is a 5 out of 5. Mr. João is super attentive and very friendly.

Really recommended, delicious fresh fish eaten as you would expect in Portugal. Starter, intermediate and main course, all equally fresh and deliciously prepared, super friendly owner and his wife have recently reopened this restaurant. We came here by chance, every week there is a different menu of fresh fish.

Today I ate at O ​​Joăo do Peixe thanks to a local friend's recommendation. It's a family restaurant; the owner and his family are attentive, friendly, and very professional. I'm Spanish, and the service they provided was impeccable. The food was delicious, from the starters to the fish they bring out nonstop for 18 euros. For that price, they give you a drink, starters, the fish they cook outside on a grill they have, and a coffee if you want. I had two very friendly and respectful local gentlemen eating next to me, and we chatted. It was a more than perfect meal. The owner was very attentive the entire time, making sure I didn't want for anything. I highly recommend O Joăo do Peixe because it will be a wonderful culinary experience! Oh, and I had a sangria with different types of fruit that was delicious; I've never tasted anything like it!
